Laniado team member takes part in hostage rescue
In the early hours of Monday morning, Israeli reservists executed a daring raid in Rafah, south of Gaza, successfully liberating two Israeli hostages held by Hamas. Fernando Simon Marman, 60, and Louis Har, 70, had been abducted from Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak on October 7th and endured over 120 days of captivity. Remarkably, a member of the Laniado medical team, currently serving as a reservist in Gaza, played a pivotal role in the heroic rescue mission.
"I was alert, and I knew any mistake could lead to people dying."
The team commander emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating, "I was alert, and I knew any mistake could lead to people dying." For four months, his team had been on standby, accompanying various brigades in anticipation of a rescue mission. Describing the operation, he recounted how they established rapport with IDF and Shin Bet fighters before executing the mission. Gratefully reflecting on the outcome, he expressed his happiness that the event concluded successfully.
