A serious road accident in the heart of Netanya has left a young girl in critical condition after she was hit by a bus on Chaim Weizmann Boulevard, one of the city’s main thoroughfares.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after the incident occurred, and paramedics from Magen David Adom provided urgent treatment on-site before transferring the child to Laniado Hospital. According to Ynetnews, the girl suffered multiple injuries and remains in critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Her identity has not been released.

The accident took place during a busy part of the day, in an area frequented by pedestrians, public transport, and local businesses. Eyewitnesses described a distressing scene, with bystanders rushing to help the girl before emergency responders arrived. “It happened so fast,” said one local shopkeeper. “People were screaming, and then the ambulance came very quickly.”

Police arrived at the scene and have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances of the crash. The bus driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities. It is not yet clear whether speed, distraction, or road conditions played a role in the incident.

“Emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene on Chaim Weizmann Blvd. Our prayers are with the young girl and her family.”

Chaim Weizmann Boulevard is known for its heavy foot traffic and nearby schools, raising renewed concerns about pedestrian safety in the area. Local residents are calling for increased traffic enforcement and improved safety infrastructure, such as speed bumps or better crossing zones.

Laniado Hospital, which serves the greater Sharon region, has issued a statement confirming the girl’s condition and expressing their commitment to providing the highest level of care. “Our medical team is doing everything possible to stabilise her condition. She is receiving round-the-clock treatment and monitoring,” said a hospital spokesperson.

The Netanya municipality has not yet commented publicly on the incident but is expected to review traffic patterns and pedestrian protections in the area as part of the police investigation. Community leaders and parents have already begun circulating petitions for improved road safety measures.

As the city awaits further updates on the girl’s recovery, thoughts and prayers continue to pour in from across the country, with many expressing hope for her full and speedy healing.
