Laniado Hospital Recognised as a National Leader in Infection Prevention
Laniado Hospital has been recognised by Israel's Ministry of Health as one of the country's leading hospitals for infection prevention, following the publication of its 2025 national report on hospital-acquired infections.
Hospital-acquired infections remain one of the greatest challenges in modern healthcare. They can lead to serious complications, prolonged hospital stays and, in the most vulnerable patients, become life-threatening. Preventing these infections is one of the clearest measures of patient safety and clinical excellence.
Despite the additional challenges faced by Israeli hospitals during the past year, including the relocation of departments to protected underground facilities during periods of conflict, Laniado achieved outstanding results.
The Ministry of Health report highlights a remarkable achievement: zero hospital-acquired infections in two of the hospital's most sensitive departments.
In the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Laniado recorded zero bloodstream infections (sepsis) among newborn babies—an exceptional result in a unit caring for the most vulnerable patients.
In the Surgical Department, the hospital recorded zero hospital-acquired catheter-associated urinary tract infections, helping patients avoid serious complications, lengthy hospital stays and additional treatment.
Achieving zero hospital-acquired infections in some of our most sensitive departments.
These outstanding results reflect the dedication of Laniado's Infection Prevention and Control Unit, working alongside medical, nursing and support teams to maintain the highest standards of hygiene, sterilisation and patient care across the hospital.
Professor Zvi Shimoni, Medical Director of Laniado Hospital, said:
"Infection prevention is fundamental to modern medicine and patient safety. These achievements are the result of meticulous clinical practice, continuous monitoring, rigorous infection control protocols and the unwavering commitment of our staff. Quite simply, preventing infections saves lives."
Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital, added:
"Achieving zero hospital-acquired infections in some of our most sensitive departments is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to the professionalism and dedication of our teams. We remain committed to investing in the people, training and technologies that ensure Laniado continues to provide the safest possible environment for every patient entrusted to our care."
