When Moran was told at just 22 weeks pregnant that there was little hope for her unborn baby, she and her husband Doron refused to give up. What followed was an extraordinary journey of faith, determination and medical care at Laniado Hospital.

There are moments when a mother simply knows. Not because a medical test has told her, or because someone has explained it. She just feels that something isn’t right.

Moran had one of those moments during the 22nd week of her pregnancy.

She went to be checked near her home in the Golan Heights and received devastating news: she had suffered preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM). The outlook she was given was frightening. She was advised to terminate the pregnancy and warned that continuing could carry serious risks to both her own life and that of her unborn baby.

But Moran couldn't give up on the little boy she already loved with all her heart.

Neither could her husband, Doron.

Together, they travelled across Israel to Laniado Hospital, searching for another possibility. Here, the approach was simple: if there was a chance to fight for their baby, we would fight alongside them — for every extra day and every precious hour.

For two weeks, Moran remained under close observation in our High-Risk Pregnancy Department.

Then everything changed.

During a routine check, a nurse discovered that the baby's foot was already beginning to deliver. Moran was rushed immediately to the operating room. A heartbeat was checked.

Against all the odds, that tiny heart was still beating.

As labour began, the late Rabbi Amos Guetta asked that Psalm 20 be recited. Overwhelmed and frightened, Moran couldn't find the strength to say the words herself. A nurse from the High-Risk Pregnancy Department stood beside her and read them for her.

Those words became an anchor for Moran and Doron. They returned to them again and again throughout the difficult months ahead — when they were frightened, when the future was uncertain and when all they could do was hope and pray.

At just 24 weeks and 3 days, their beautiful baby boy entered the world.

He weighed only 800 grams — just 1.7 lbs.

Tiny and incredibly fragile, yet from his very first breath he demonstrated an extraordinary determination to survive.

And then the next chapter began.

130 Days in NICU

For 130 days, Laniado's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit became a second home for Moran and Doron.

There were days filled with hope and days filled with unimaginable fear. There were highs and lows, progress and setbacks. But through every one of those days, they remained beside their son.

They never stopped believing in him.

Moran and Doron had hoped that Rabbi Amos Guetta would live to serve as Sandek at their son's brit milah, bringing their remarkable journey full circle. Sadly, Rabbi Guetta passed away before he was able to do so.

When the time came to name their son, they chose a name that expressed everything their family had experienced:

Gabriel Yehuda — “God is my strength.”

It was a name that seemed to capture their entire journey.

Finally, Home

After 130 days, the moment everyone had been waiting and praying for finally arrived.

Gabriel Yehuda left Laniado Hospital and went home with his parents.

The tiny 800-gram baby now weighs a healthy 3.14 kg (6.9 lbs). He is developing beautifully and requires only a small amount of oxygen support, which his medical team expects him to outgrow very soon.

For the doctors, nurses and staff who accompanied this family through four extraordinary months, watching them finally leave together was an emotional moment.

Doron and Moran, your faith, patience and determination throughout those 130 days touched everyone who cared for you and Gabriel Yehuda.
