Laniado Hospital recently organised a prestigious international conference focused on the renowned Lizarov method in orthopaedics. First introduced by G.A. Lizarov in the 1960s, this innovative technique gained popularity in Western countries during the early 1980s and has since become an indispensable part of the global orthopaedic community.

The procedure involves a gradual bone-lengthening and reconstruction process through controlled distraction, utilising the body's natural ability to generate new bone. The Lizarov fixator facilitates the controlled gap filling with the growth of new bone.

Under the guidance of Dr. Aharon Liberzon, Head of the Foot Unit at Laniado Hospital, numerous doctors from hospitals across Israel and worldwide attended the conference. The event explored diverse applications of the Ilizarov method for treating complex orthopaedic issues in the foot, ankle, and diabetic foot-related areas.

Distinguished speakers included Dr. Aharon Liberzon, the conference organizer from Laniado Hospital, Prof. Chaim Starker, Director of the Orthopaedic Department at the Galilee Medical Centre in Israel, and Dr. Colin Fahda and Dr. Andrew Ryder, Podiatrists at UT HEALTH Medical Centre San Antonio in Texas.
