Laniado Doctor called away from active IDF Service in Gaza to perform lifesaving operation
"Ask the commander of the unit for an immediate release for a few hours to perform a lifesaving surgery”.
This was the request from Laniado to one of our doctors currently serving in a classified unit to return immediately from Gaza to come back to Laniado to help perform lifesaving surgery on a newborn in Laniado Hospital.
The surgery was aimed to open a bilateral posterior blockage of the nasal cavity in a tiny newborn, a blockage that would have killed the baby without the necessary surgery. This is an extremely rare case that occurs on average only once in 50,000 births.

The doctor, who cannot be named, managed to be released from the unit for several hours, arrived in an IDF uniform at the hospital, performed the surgery and returned to the unit to continue his service.
