An extraordinary 94-year-old resident from Kibbutz Beeri endured a harrowing 22-hour ordeal on October 7th. She alongside hundreds of others, endured the horrendous events that unfolded that day where she sought refuge in her ‘safe’ room for 22 hours without access to water, electricity, and food. Unfortunately, the tragedy of losing her granddaughter occurred during this traumatic period.

I could have perished, but it seems I still have a role to fulfil in this world.

Like tens of thousands of residents from southern communities, she has been "displaced" and relocated to "safer" areas of Israel, such as Netanya. Recently, she underwent a medical procedure at Laniado Hospital. During a conversation with a nurse, she shared, "I could have perished, but it seems I still have a role to fulfil in this world. I'm uncertain about when I'll depart, perhaps in a year or two, but I do believe I have a purpose here."
