Laniado Hospital, established in 1975, celebrated a landmark achievement in 2024 as its maternity centre delivered a record-breaking 8,400 babies—400 more than the 8,000 births recorded in 2023. This remarkable milestone places Laniado among Israel’s largest and most in-demand birthing centres in Israel. It far surpassed London’s St. Thomas’ Hospital, which delivers approximately 6,000 babies annually.

The hospital's story began with its first birth on June 21, 1976, a poignant moment for its founder, the Klausenberger Rebbe, a Holocaust survivor who had lost his family. At that time, he declared, "Let this be my revenge on the Nazis." In its inaugural year, the hospital welcomed 868 births, a humble start compared to today’s extraordinary numbers.

It far surpassed London’s St. Thomas’ Hospital, which delivers approximately 6,000 babies annually.

To meet the growing demand, Laniado has embarked on a major expansion of its maternity unit. This new development will add 1,900 square meters of space, including 25 amenity rooms with 42 beds, a spacious dining hall for patients and families, and a specialised treatment room designed to free up operating theatres for non-urgent procedures. Once completed, the upgraded facilities will support nearly 9,500 births annually, ensuring comfort and care for thousands of mothers and newborns.

Laniado’s continued growth is a testament to its commitment to exceptional maternal care and its pivotal role in the community. With its expanded capacity and state-of-the-art facilities, the hospital is poised to break even more records in the years to come.
