Police have arrested two 15-year-old teenagers on suspicion of stabbing a bus driver in his 70s on Emek Hefer Street in Netanya.

The victim, employed by the “Extra” bus company and operating Line 16, was attacked on Tuesday night during his shift. According to reports, the driver was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen by three teenagers.

He remains in serious condition, sedated and on a ventilator.

Despite suffering severe injuries, he managed to drive himself to Laniado Hospital in Netanya, where he underwent several surgeries. He remains in serious condition, sedated and on a ventilator.

In response to the attack, the Extra drivers’ committee and the National Bus Drivers Organisation, under the National Labor Federation, announced a strike to protest the growing violence against drivers.

The organisation stated that additional protest measures will be taken in the coming week to demand improved safety for drivers.
