A man in his early fifties was stabbed and seriously wounded in Netanya on Sunday evening, in what police believe was a criminally motivated attack.

The incident took place on Aharon Bart Street in the city centre. Paramedics from Magen David Adom, Israel's national ambulance service, provided emergency treatment at the scene before rushing the victim to Laniado Hospital. He remained conscious but in serious condition.

The case remains under investigation.

Police officers secured the scene and launched a search for the attacker, who fled. A preliminary assessment indicated the attack was criminal in nature rather than nationalistically motivated, and details of a suspect have not yet been released.

The victim was taken to Laniado Hospital, Netanya's main medical centre, which was recently ranked first in Israel for patient satisfaction in its internal medicine departments in an Israel Ministry of Health report - recognition that reflects the hospital's standing as a national leader in patient care and safety.

The case remains under investigation.
