This week, the Rabbi Zvi Elimelech Halberstam known as the Sanzer Rebbe, wrote a letter to the Jewish people around the world in support for the Laniado Hospital in its mission to raise money for life saving urgent medical equipment in light of the war in Israel.

The Sanzer Rebbe is the eldest son of the Rabbi Yekusiel Yehudah Halberstam zt’l, the Klausenberger Rebbe. The Klausenberger Rebbe a survivor of the holocaust opened the hospital almost 50 years ago with the support of the Laniado brothers.

The letter translated from Hebrew to English says the following;

We are in the midst of a difficult period for all the inhabitants of the holy land surrounded by murderers wanting Jewish blood, with many more wounded on our side, may G-d have mercy on us. I will call from the depths of my heart to my brothers. May G-d grant you peace and quietness during this period. The Sanz Medical centre, known as Laniado Hospital is in a state of emergency with the constant worry of saving lives on a daily basis. The staff are receiving the wounded from the war zone dedicated an increased effort to treating these patients properly and appropriately.

Due to this state of emergency, the management team, at the hospital urgently require the purchase of medical and life saving equipment which adds up to a significant amount required.

Due to this I am asking my bothers to please partner with us in saving souls by opening your hand and heart to help and assist in the purchase of this equipment. Please make these donations with a generous spirit as stated by the Chazal (Bava Basra 10-1) “All the charity and deeds of kindness which Israel performs in this world help to promote peace and good understanding between them and their father in heaven”. Likewise, stated in Bava Basra (11-1), “he who preserves one should of Israel is considered as if he has preserved the whole world”

May this act of charity stand before you with kindness and mercy and may the promise be fulfilled in you (shabbat 191-2) “and he shall give you mercy and have compassion on you and multiply you, he who is merciful to others mercy is shown to him by heaven while he who is not merciful to others, mercy is not shown by heaven”.

May Hashem protect you and all brothers worldwide from all trouble and distress and may we merit very soon that Hashem should bring us out from trouble to peace and from darkness to light and from enslavement to redemption, amen.
