The Ministry of Health's annual assessment of national quality indicators provides a comprehensive overview of the nation's healthcare system, aiming to enhance the quality of care in crucial sectors and share outcomes with the public.

Released in conjunction with the 10th annual conference on healthcare quality and safety, the 2022 report by the ministry focuses on quality indicators. Notably, Laniado Hospital stands out as one of only eleven general hospitals in Israel to attain a perfect rating of 10.

The evaluation encompasses a broad spectrum of healthcare domains, spanning infant clinics, general hospitals, geriatric and rehabilitation centres, psychiatric facilities, dialysis clinics, and ambulance services. A comprehensive list of over 120 distinct service providers is included. Moreover, efforts are underway to incorporate patient safety as an integral component of the national quality measures plan.

Health Minister Moshe Arbel emphasised the significant strides made to enhance healthcare quality in the past year.

Initiated nearly a decade ago, the national programme for quality indicators initially focused on five criteria for general hospitals. In its inaugural years, substantial advancements in care quality were evident, underscoring the programme effectiveness.

Collaborating closely with national medical councils, the Israel Medical Association's scientific associations, and the OECD, the programme actively selects indicators, devises methodologies, and analyses findings.

In a statement, Health Minister Moshe Arbel emphasised the significant strides made to enhance healthcare quality in the past year. A dedicated focus on patient safety involves in-depth surveys and assessments of critical issues. The patient-centric approach remains central, with plans to incorporate patient feedback when new indicators are introduced.

Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman Tov underscored the ongoing nature of the quest for excellence in healthcare quality and safety. Success hinges on sustained collaboration, commitment, innovation, and the collective wisdom derived from participating institutions and the national programme.
