Laniado Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Kogan, a specialist in Emergency Medicine, as the new Head of the Emergency Department.

The ER is one of the busiest in Israel, treating around 90,000 patients each year and providing comprehensive care across surgical, orthopaedic, cardiac, and internal medicine disciplines, including a dedicated area for “walking wounded” cases.

Dr. Kogan steps into this role at a pivotal time, as Laniado prepares to launch its flagship initiative: the construction of a 4,000 sq. meter Sheltered Emergency Hospital.

Our staff will play a central role in planning to ensure we deliver life-saving care with maximum comfort for patients and their families.

Formerly a Senior Physician in the ER at Sheba Medical Center, and trained in both Emergency and Internal Medicine, Dr. Kogan embraced the challenge ahead: “I’m a marathon runner and long-term challenges motivate me. That’s why I chose to come here: to lead a very busy, demanding department and be part of a major undertaking like building a Sheltered Emergency Hospital. This multi-year project is deeply meaningful to me as a specialist and manager at Laniado, in both routine and crisis situations. Our staff will play a central role in planning to ensure we deliver life-saving care with maximum comfort for patients and their families.”

Prof. Zvi Shimonie, Medical Director:
“We are recruiting experienced, reputable medical staff to provide high-quality healthcare. This is a mission we take seriously, and we invest significant resources to serve the nearly half a million residents of Netanya and the Sharon region.”

Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO Laniado Hospital, Isreal:
“The Laniado ER is one of the most demanding departments in Israel, yet patient trust is remarkable. In the Ministry of Health’s recent report, Laniado achieved the highest patient experience score in the country (88%). We are now on the brink of groundbreaking for the sheltered ER project, which will ensure continuity of care for the entire hospital, even in emergencies — a vital investment for our community of half a million residents.”

Dr. Kogan’s appointment marks an important step forward in strengthening emergency care and patient safety at Laniado Hospital.
