Following the recent publication of the Patient Experience Survey and the National Programs Budgeting Report, the Ministry of Health has released recently its comprehensive index for service improvement and quality of care within Internal Medicine Departments. The index evaluates a broad spectrum of clinical, nursing, and service parameters, acknowledging that internal medicine systems manage an immense volume of complex cases despite historical systemic underfunding.

The index monitors key metrics derived from the 2019 Tur-Kaspa Committee recommendations, which were designed to address the challenges facing internal medicine. These metrics include overall patient satisfaction, physician-to-bed ratios, readmission rates, and the presence of specialised post-graduate nursing staff on every shift.

Unprecedented Achievements in Patient Satisfaction

The report once again positions Laniado Hospital as a national leader in patient experience. This follows the Ministry of Health’s Patient Experience Report published six weeks ago, in which Laniado secured the top spot among all Israeli hospitals with an overall score of 88%.

The newly released data confirms Laniado’s continued dominance: The hospital’s Internal Medicine Departments achieved a peak satisfaction score of 85%, the highest absolute score across all hospital categories in Israel, including tertiary referral centers (super-centers), large, medium, and small hospitals.

Furthermore, Laniado received a maximum score of 85% in the physician-to-bed ratio index, fully meeting the rigorous standards set by the Tur-Kaspa Committee.

These accolades follow another Ministry of Health report released last week, which ranked Laniado’s Emergency Medicine Departments (General and Pediatric) first in Israel for physician assessment wait times (within one hour of registration) and second for triage efficiency (within 15 minutes of arrival).

Leadership Perspectives

Prof. Zvi Shimoni, Medical Director at Laniado Hospital, commended the internal medicine teams: "We operate four internal medicine departments under immense pressure. Netanya has one of the oldest populations in Israel, resulting in a particularly heavy clinical load. The fact that our patient satisfaction remains the highest in the country is a testament to the exceptional dedication of our staff, above all else."

Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital, stated: "These high marks are the result of intensive efforts by numerous teams, led by our Internal Medicine Division. It is worth noting that we recently completed a multi-million NIS renovation of one of our internal wards. Our success in meeting physician staffing benchmarks reflects our deep investment in human resources and recruitment. We view it as our mission to invest heavily in these departments, despite the financial challenges, maintaining a holistic vision for the patient and their family."
