Coins for Kindness Purim to Pesach Drive

Coins for Kindness is a Purim to Pesach charity and education initiative run by Laniado UK, created for UK Jewish schools to help children experience the mitzvah of charity in a meaningful, hands-on, and age-appropriate way. The project supports Laniado Hospital in Netanya, Israel, raising vital funds for the hospital’s new Sheltered Emergency Department, a major expansion designed to meet the growing needs of the region and to ensure uninterrupted, lifesaving care during emergencies. As the primary trauma and emergency hospital for the Sharon region, Laniado serves hundreds of thousands of residents each year, with its existing emergency department having long outgrown capacity; the new sheltered facility will be more than four times the size of the current department, purpose-built underground and fully protected to allow medical teams to continue treating patients safely even during security threats and crises.

As part of Coins for Kindness, children design, build, and decorate shelter-themed charity boxes, then collect coins at home with their families from February half term through to Pesach, turning daily giving into a shared family experience before returning their boxes to school after the holiday. The initiative helps pupils understand how small acts of kindness can have real-world impact, while connecting them to the legacy of the Klausenberger Rebbe (zt״l), the Holocaust survivor and Torah scholar who founded Laniado Hospital on the principles of compassion, dignity, and care for all values that continue to guide the hospital and are brought to life through this project.
