Rosh Hashanah Appeal 2025 - New Sheltered Emergency Centre

Created on 04/09/2025

ON 13 JUNE, FEAR BECAME REALITY DURING THE 12 DAY WAR WITH IRAN

FROM STORAGE AREA TO HOSPITAL WARD: This is the underground storage space we were forced to turn into a temporary Emergency Department in response to the threat of a missile attack during the war with Iran.

OUR EMERGENCY UNIT WAS NOT BUILT TO SURVIVE A MISSILE ATTACK: Many patients were transferred to the temporary sheltered ward, but some could not be moved.

Our ER Department handles over 100,000 visits a year and is still operating within a structure that was never designed to accommodate such volume, let alone potential direct missile strikes. Whilst some patients were moved to the secure underground ward, many had to stay at ground level because their condition was too fragile for transfer.

The new Emergency Unit will be more than a structural upgrade. Spanning 4,000sqm across three levels, it is engineered to withstand direct missile attacks, remain fully self-sustaining, and continue operating seamlessly even under threat.

DESIGN PROPOSAL OF NEW SHELTERED EMERGENCY CENTRE: The new proposed Sheltered Emergency Centre will quadruple the current ER capacity and, critically ensure continuity of care during wartime or national emergencies.
