A potentially devastating fire broke out Tuesday evening inside the internal medicine department at Laniado Hospital in Netanya, after a suspected indoor cigarette ignited flames within a patient room.

Within moments, Laniado’s emergency personnel sprang into action. Staff rapidly secured patients, initiated evacuation procedures, and coordinated seamlessly with Israel Fire and Rescue teams as they arrived on scene. The affected ward was swiftly cleared and the fire brought under control before it could spread further.

Three people were injured, one seriously and two lightly. Thanks to the decisive response of hospital staff and firefighters, no additional injuries occurred and a far more serious outcome was prevented.

Within moments, Laniado’s emergency personnel sprang into action.

Fire officials later confirmed that due to the immediate and professional actions taken by Laniado’s emergency teams, there was no need for a wider evacuation.

In what could have become a major hospital disaster, calm leadership, rapid coordination and unwavering dedication to patient safety ensured lives were protected.
