Laniado Hospital, together with the Qalansawa municipality are setting up an anterior emergency room in the Arab municipality, to help with the fight against coronavirus. The project will provide much needed medical care for the 23,000 residents living in the area.
The management of Laniado Hospital, headed by CEO Mr. Nadav Chen and the VP, Mr. Meir Mark, responded to the initiative from the Mayor of Qalansawa, Mr. Salame Abd al-Bast, and met with the Mayor in his office together with local businessman Mr. Mahmoud Abu Shah. Together they agreed on a taskforce, which would include the city’s engineer and Laniado Hospital’s engineer to establish an emergency room in Qalansawa as soon as possible, to improve the wellbeing of the local population.
Laniado engineer, Mr. Moshe Klein, has already begun the plans needed for the construction and the mayor has instructed senior officials in the municipality's engineering department to promote the important project, so that the anterior emergency room can start operating as soon as possible. It was agreed that the engineering teams from the municipality and Laniado would work side by side to bring the project to fruition.
The partnership between Laniado Hospital and Qalansawa, happening for the first time, was made possible thanks to the appointment of local businessmen, Mr. Muhammad Abu Shah and Mr. Abd Khadija from Qalansawa to the Board of Trustees at Laniado Hospital at the end of 2020. This exemplifies Laniado’s commitment to one of its founding principles that the hospital will care for every individual, regardless of race or religion.
In a campaign that took place at the end of 2020, a special dinner was held at the home of Mr. Abd Khadija, guests included local businessmen, senior clerics and opinion leaders from the Arab sector. Mr Meir Mark, VP of Development and Recruitment at Laniado, who is working to strengthen ties between the Arab sector and Laniado, said “this is huge news for the residents of Qalansawa, and the entire region. The establishment of an anterior emergency room will allow residents to receive professional and life-saving medical care close to their residence”. Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado noted that “the connection between us, is a direct continuation of Laniado’s vision to provide professional medical care, which includes a dedicated service to the entire population regardless of religion, race and gender. I am proud to be part of this connection, especially in such a politically complex period.”
The Mayor of Qalansawa, Mr Abd al-Bast Salameh, summed up the visit by saying, "The whole municipality, on all its wings, will advance this important project. I was pleased to respond to Laniado's proposal and support to set up an anterior response emergency room in Qalansawa. It's time for city residents to receive a medical service infrastructure tailored to their needs, without the need to travel to distant places."
