Ongoing upgrades to the Orthopaedic Department continue as a new foot unit opens its doors. The orthopaedic department, which has undergone vast changes and improvements in the past year and a half include a new location, the appointment of two renowned experts (Dr. Aharon Liberzon and Dr. Michael Alperson) in the field of feet problems. Both of whom specialise in a wide range of foot-typical problems: deformity correction, spur, tendon and nerve problems in the foot, external fixation surgery, ankle joint replacement, arthroscopy for ankle problems and more.
The new unit will provide care to 450,000 residents from the Netanya and Sharon region. The care provided will include consultations at outpatient clinics, recommendations on insoles and orthopaedic shoes and ongoing services and counselling to diabetic patients who suffer with foot difficulties. Additionally, the unit will also become a place of learning and development for students and interns who are enrolled onto the academic teaching track.
Dr. Liberzon and Dr. Alperson have been working together as foot specialists for many years, and they bring to the unit a therapeutic vision that offers a holistic and comprehensive, one-stop-shop for feet. The benefit of this will enable Laniado to ensure that patients are provided with optimal care at all times, a shorter recovery and rehabilitation time and a reduction in waiting time.
Dr. Claude Picard, Director of the Orthopaedic Department, congratulated Dr. Liberzon and Dr. Alferson on joining the department's senior staff and said, "the publics’ trust in the Orthopaedic Department's medical team enables us to increase patient intake and provide a full scope of orthopaedic treatments."
Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital noted that, “Our challenge, as Laniado’s management, is to continue to develop medical services, even during the Coronavirus period. We identified and recognised the need in the local population for foot care and recruited a senior medical team, with experience and reputation, in order to provide treatment at the highest level. "
