A large clinical and logistical operation is underway at Laniado hospital to transfer 20 elderly patients from a retirement home in Bnei Brak to the Coronavirus Department of Laniado. These patients arriving from Bnei Brak are all in a stable condition however due to their age are of significant risk. They are in addition to the 15 patients already hospitalized in this Special Department.
In view of the increase in the number of patients in retirement homes and in view of the excellent work accomplished by the care teams in Laniado in the treatment of the virus (as well as the good knowledge by the hospital of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish public), the Ministry of Health asked Laniado's general management to absorb these 20 new patients infected with COVID-19.
In preparation for this operation, the Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Professor Itamar Grotto visited Laniado to assess more closely the specific needs of the hospital in his fight against the virus.
Professor Grotto told Laniado staff: “We fully support you in the great work you do!” During his visit, the possibility of setting up an additional Coronavirus Department was discussed specifically dedicated to the elderly. Laniado management took the opportunity to report the challenge of a lack of protective equipment and vital medical equipment.
Mr. Nadav CHEN, CEO of Laniado, said: “This morning we were called up to double the capacity of our Coronavirus Department. This is a complex and difficult task. Laniado's team has accepted this mission and with God's help, we will treat all of our patients with our usual dedication”
