The systems for the protection of personnel caring for patients with coronavirus have been launched by the Ministry of Defense at Laniado Hospital.
The pilot programme is testing a remote monitoring system which allows medical personnel outside the contaminated area to view in real-time the vital parameters of a respiratory monitor.
The system includes an electro-optical camera mounted on the respiratory monitors which then transmits the data to a screen located in the control room. Once the testing is complete and its effectiveness has been examined the system will be put in place in Coronavirus departments across Israel.
The goal of the programme is to transmit data from the monitor of the infected patient to the mobile phones of medical personnel to reduce exposure to the virus. This helps to safeguard those working on the frontline and to prevent the virus from spreading.
Lt. Col. Guy Elfassi, head of the development team said: “We are installing five stations here as part of the pilot programme. The goal is to provide minimal personnel exposure to the virus and therefore ensure the safety of staff and patients.”
