Emergency staff at Laniado Hospital are currently completing preparations to receive patients infected with Covid-19.
The emergency management and the infection prevention unit of Laniado hospital are currently completing preparations within the hospital to be able to treat patients affected by Covid-19. In recent weeks, the hospital has obtained, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Health, medical equipment: drugs, protective equipment and various remote control technologies, all with the aim of opening an isolated room for patients affected by the virus. It should be noted that currently, no patient infected with Covid-19 is hospitalized in Laniado.
The emergency department of Laniado operates according to the usual protocol and approved by the emergency department of the Ministry of Health. The hospital is preparing several primary care options and is reserving a hospital ward. It should be noted that in 2017, a large exercise in this direction took place at the Laniado hospital.
This exercise was validated and approved by the Ministry of Health. Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado, said that Laniado Hospital, as part of the national medical system, was prepared for the scenario of the coronavirus spread: "We are preparing and training the staff. We have also increased the quantity of appropriate medical equipment. And we are working in close cooperation with the emergency department of the Ministry of Health." Professor Zvi Shimoni, infectious disease specialist and medical director of Laniado, noted that: "The infectious disease unit is working very hard these days to ensure that all protocols are well integrated with the healthcare staff.
The unit also manages the treatment of patients with suspected viruses. They are received in the emergency room and examined in isolated negative pressure rooms. We update the clinical case definition as published by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization daily, and act accordingly."
