The evaluation model of the Ministry of Health concerning the neonatal services of the State of Israel is established on strict criteria including in particular: infection prevention, standards of nursing staff, professional training of teams, breastfeeding, the presence of dedicated space for families, low intensity radiological equipment, the level of medical equipment in general, etc.
The report ranked neonatal services based on the size of the hospital. For medium-sized hospitals, Laniado has an exceptional neonatal service. This service also has the highest general progress index in all categories! In addition to these excellent results, the hospital management is redoubling its efforts to soon complete the construction of the new building of the neonatology service, which will be fortified and earthquake-resistant. Last week, more than 2.5 million shekels were collected at a gala for the equipment of this new service.
The head of service, Dr Arie Simmonds, and the main nurse, Mrs Eti Littig, welcomed the news by saying: “We are proud of our team! The medical, nursing and paramedical staffs do sacred work: it is an endless gift for premature babies and their families. These daily efforts are recognized today. We are certain that the opening of this new structure will allow us to beat new records, both medical and paramedical, as well as in family support.”
Laniado CEO Nadav Chen congratulated the service team on this achievement: “We are completing the construction of the new neonatal service which is due to open during the first quarter of 2020. This department covers 900 square meters, has 34 treatment stations and is fully shielded. We will continue to work 24 hours a day until the complete opening of this new structure, with the most advanced medical equipment.”
