Recently three senior physicians at Laniado Hospital were recently named “outstanding lecturers” by the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, with which the hospital is affiliated.
Faculty Dean, Prof. Elon Eisenberg, presented certificates to Dr. Yaakov Shechter, Director of the Pediatric Department, Dr. Vered Hermush, Director of the Geriatric Department, and Dr. Nechama Sharon, Deputy Director of the Pediatric Department, in the presence of Laniado CEO, Nadav Chen, and Medical Director, Prof. Zvi Shimoni.
Laniado is a teaching hospital for the Technion, providing clinical instruction for students at various stages of their training. They receive personalized instruction from senior physicians who are experts in their fields.
During the ceremony, Prof. Eisenberg noted that “the students who come here during their years of study at the Technion are very satisfied, as indicated by the feedback they give at the conclusion of their studies." He added that the Faculty of Medicine "will be happy to invest in grants and scholarships for current and future research in the field of basic science carried out at Laniado. Research is a fundamental part of medicine to which we attribute supreme importance."
Dr. Schechter noted with emotion that students interning at Laniado are currently applying for admission to the departments as residents. "For me it's the closing of a circle,” he said. “They do all their training here and consider Laniado a warm home with a clinical-professional future.”
“The relationship between us and the Technion will continue in the years to come,” said Prof. Shimoni. "we see in this connection the future of medicine at Laniado in terms of training staff at the highest level. The results of exams, student feedback, and other parameters indicate that we are going the right direction!"
