It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we must notify you of the passing of, Rabbi Natan Morowitz z’l, this past Friday, erev Shabbat Kodesh.
Rabbi Morowitz z’l was a most central figure in the development of Laniado Hospital for over 41 years until his recent retirement in December 2020. His love for and passionate dedication to the growth and success of the hospital, together with his late wife Rachel z’l, was never ending and evident to anyone who met him over the years.
His leadership of the Supporters of Laniado successfully generated the needed resources that were required over the years together with hundreds of volunteers and members of the Supporters. He not only successfully galvanized local support from his beloved community of Netanya but from Jewish communities abroad. Throughout the years he travelled endless times to the UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, among other places, all on behalf of Laniado.
There is not a single corner of the hospital that doesn’t have Rabbi Morowitz’s fingerprint on it.
His activities were responsible for the purchase of a wide range of countless pieces of modern medical equipment, needed to improve the care at Laniado to the People of Israel. This equipment ranged in size from a tiny handheld optical lens to an MRI machine that takes up an entire room.
His vision for future success of Laniado included the eventual ongoing need for a good supply of well-trained nurses. This led him to create the Nursing Scholarship Program that has provided thousands of scholarships over the years.
While we mourn the loss of a wonderful person, who dedicated his life to Torah and helping the people of Israel, we commit ourselves to continue in his footsteps. We commit ourselves to work endlessly to allow Laniado to provide the best-in-class healthcare in order to save lives in Israel.
May his memory be a blessing for his entire family, and for all the people of Israel.
Regards,
Simon Silver,
CEO, Laniado Hospital UK
