The experience of entering the Covid ward dressed in full PPE, where thousands had entered before shook me to the core. How many didn’t come out? How many tears had been shed by the patients and staff? Every room in that ward could tell it’s own story. Rooms full of ventilators once used to keep patients alive and empty oxygen canisters! With just two patients left on the ward where once there were as many as 100, the best way to describe the experience was the feeling of being in a war-zone a short time after the war had ended. An eerie silence in a place that had seen so much.
